Though, primarily pre-made wigs are adjustable, custom units are a bit different. Custom wigs are made to fit your head, read below on instructions for how to start your measurements.
1x Flexible Measuring Tape
Alternative: String and Other Measuring Tool (ie. Ruler, yard stick, etc.)
When taking your head measurements assure that there are no ripples or rivets in your measuring take/ string. Once your tape meets the ending position, place your finger to use as a marker, then write down your measurement. If you are using string, mark your end spot and place the string against your measuring tool to measure. Lastly, mark down your measurement.
*We advise that you record your wig measurements in your phone, you never know when you’ll purchase another wig ;)
These are the 3 primary measurements:
Head Circumference: This measures the distance around your head. Starting at the center of the front hairline. First, you must place the tape flat against your head, going just above the ear towards the back of the head, keeping the tape at the nape of your neck and go around to the opposite side of your head, just above the opposite ear and returning to the center of the front hairline. This is the head circumference measurement. This is the most important measurement which is why we request it when ordering a custom wig.
Front to Nape: This measures the length of your head from the front to the nape of your neck. To find the nape of your neck, tilt your head back and look up. Where your neck bends and may even develop a skin fold, is where your nape is. You want the bottom of the wig to sit right above this area so that when you do tilt your head back that far, your wig will not shift on your head. This area is often right at the occipital bone, but be sure to take the measurement with your neck bent down so that you are looking at your shoes. Starting at the front hairline, measure directly across the middle top of your head to the area that you have determined is your nape.
Ear to Ear: Measure your head from the top of one ear, over the crown to the top of the other ear.
Your wig should settle into your natural hairline. The back of the wig should come down to the natural hairline (nape) in the back. All custom units come with elastic bands and comb, for extra security and to assist creating a snug and comfortable fit.
When Buying Our Custom Wigs Keep in Mind that...
...our custom wigs are sized upon head circumference. All other measurements used will be gathered from the general average measurements of the circumference that you choose.
